This page is dedicated to updates on the development of a 4-D environment in VR. This project started during my 3-month research stay at the VR/AR unit under Hannes Kaufmann at TU Wien in 2025.
Log
- The idea is analogy to being part of a 3-D to 2-D perspective painting or video, but one dimension higher
- The program is hard-coded in Unreal Engine
- The VR environment is projected by 4-D central projection
- There are several interactive components:
movement of objects inside the 4-D space (selecting object and movement by keys)
movement of a visitor in a 3-D projection (user’s view)
movement of the 4-D camera (cyclop’s eye) - A feature to import Wolfram Mathematica graphical complex (currently a polynomial surface from 4-D), but extendable for any point set
- Visibility/Hide for 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D reference subspaces (axes)
Possibilities
- 4-D educational game to complete some hyperspatial tasks
- a way to interactively project 4-D objects or making animations
- creating tools for 4-D modeling
- …
Call
- Any interested geometric enthusiast who can code bigger projects in Unreal can help me to push this to another dimension
